AFRICA'S EVOLVING RESPONSES TO THE CONFLICT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Taking stock of the impact on the ground
On 28 April 2026, the AAV network convened its 20th dialogue to assess Africa's exposure to the conflict in the Middle East. Two months later, ACET and the FDL convened a follow-up briefing to further assess war actions and impacts in the ten weeks since April: which of the risks identified had materialized, which policy responses had been sustained, allowed to expire, or extended, and what new pressures or opportunities had emerged. This policy note collects together the contributions from policy institutes based in Botswana, Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, and Tunisia.
