Join us on Thursday, October 22, 2026, to explore pathways for resilient growth in developing countries, focusing on funding, policy decisions, climate strategies, and their roles amid global turbulence.

As geopolitical conflicts and economic fragmentation increase worldwide, this session will analyze their short- and medium-term economic impacts across different regions, from Latin America to Africa and the Gulf, reflecting on ongoing international tensions and trade dynamics.

Discover how developing countries are responding with innovative strategies to manage shocks and build resilience.

The panel will explore how multilateral institutions can facilitate the transition from stabilization to recovery and how debt restructuring can serve as a credible reset rather than a sign of ongoing risk. It will also consider how developing nations can forge new international partnerships in a fragmented world.

The public session of the high-level academic conference is jointly organised by FDL and IPD at Columbia University's Paris centre. Experts will include:

  • Vera Songwe, Chair and founder of Liquidity and Sustainability Facility (LSF)
  • Dorothée Rouzet, Chief Economist, French Treasury
  • Ishac Diwan, Research Director, Finance for Development Lab (FDL) & Professor of Economics, American University of Beirut
  • Martin Guzmán, Professor, SIPA, Co-President, Initiative for Policy Dialogue (IPD)
  • Mamo Mihretu, Former Governor, National Bank of Ethiopia
