On Thursday, June 30th, we had our inaugural launch conference
The first panel was a conversation moderated by Daniel Cohen, featuring:
- World Trade Organization Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and
- 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics Esther Duflo
Followed by an address by Kalpana Kochhar, Director of the Development Policy and Finance team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
The second panel was a discussion about our first policy report, joint with the Economic Research Forum, to build an African Liquidity and Stability Mechanism, with
- Vera Songwe, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa
- Ed Brown, Senior Director for Research & Policy Engagements at the African Council for Economic Transformation (ACET)
- Homi Kharas, Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution
- and Brendan Harnoys-Vannier, Economist, FDL
The third panel introduce our China initiative, a collaborative space for discussion with think-tanks in China and in developing countries, moderated by FDL's Ishac Diwan and with:
- Justin Lin (Beijing University)
- Hannah Ryder (Development Reimagined)
- Shang-Jin Wei (Columbia University)
- and Jiajun Xu (Executive Deputy Dean of INSE-PKU, Member of the Executive Committee of Finance in Common Summit)
